The war in Ukraine is shaking the whole world and has triggered a wave of solidarity. In a war there is never a winner, only losers, but as rational as man feels, he acts with little insight. At the end of February 2022, when the news was filled with threats, bombs, destroyed homes, fleeing people, and speculation about where the madness might lead, something else took hold of us Stage Reptiles: fear. We have acquaintances, colleagues and family in Ukraine, in Kharkiv, Chernihiv and Kiev among others. What will become of them? When will we hear from these cities again? Can we somehow bring our friends and family to safety? To the West? So many routes, so many possibilities, so many uncertainties, fears, attacks, contradictory statements. Nothing is over and done with yet, we will probably have to grow into this time with a war “on our doorstep”. At the same time, we make it clear: every war, whether in Syria, Libya, Afghanistan, whether dictatorships far away or right next door – all of this is terrible, to be condemned, and in the long run, the goal must be a peaceful, reason-driven coexistence.
All we are saying is give peace a chance.
